Dean Gong Xiuyong

Gong Xiuyong: Professor, Post Doctorate, Advisor of Master Students, Dean of College of Political Science, undertaking the comprehensive administrative work within college, partially responsible for human resources, finance, scientific research, field construction as well as post graduate education.

Born in January 1968, Guang’an City of Sichuan Province, Gong belongs to the People of Han, and works as a Communist Party member. Gong graduated from the Department of Philosophy with Nanjing University in 2006, and earned his Ph.D in Marxist Philosophy. In 2011, he continued to undertake religious studies as a post doctorate in the Taoism & Religious Culture Institute of College of Public Administration, Sichuan University. Now, Gong teaches master students ideological and political theory courses like “Introduction to Dialectics of Nature”, undergraduates’ courses like “Introduction to Basic Principles of Marxism”. Meanwhile, he conducts research into Marxism and the contemporary China, Marxism and the social problems in contemporary China.

Gong hosts one national funds project in social science, two provincial soft science projects in Sichuan, and one planned project to promote social science in Sichuan. Simultaneously, he hosts one educational reform project in Sichuan and set up one planned teaching material project. Gong has published more than 20 academic papers, among which, 2 in authoritative core journals. CSSCI collected 15 papers of his; RDFY reprinted 2; CUAA took excerpts from 1. People’s Daily Online-Theory Version reprinted his work and cited his paper for 28 times. Gong published 1 academic monograph, coauthored 2 books, and compiled 3 textbooks on ideological and political theories as a chief editor. He has received the title of “Provincial Advanced Worker in Ideological & Political Theory Education to University Students”, and acquired the second prize in the “Two Courses” Excellent Teaching Plan Contest by the Sichuan Education Department. In addition, he gained 1 second prize and 1 third prize in the CUIT teaching achievements. Moreover, he earned 2 second prize and 1 third prize in the provincial excellent social science teaching achievements. Gong has also been working as the managing director of Sichuan Philosophy Society, the managing director of Sichuan Dialectic Seminar, and the managing director of Sichuan Communist Party History Seminar.
